so today was really fun...classes ended yesterday, so everyone was pretty much just screwing around today. we slept late and just hung out, until around 8 tonight, when the mayhem began. the incident began with colin farting on hadley's bed, so sara febrezed him. this started a febreze war, which quickly escalated into a febreze and shaving cream war. we even got spray-on snow into the mix. long story short, me, colin, aaron, andrew, nikki, and sara were covered in febreze and shaving cream. oh, and andrew got a concussion, too. see, when he was running away from the febreze that sara had, he was running down some stairs and decided to jump the flight to go faster. the problem was that andrew is 6'4" tall and when he jumped, his head hit the ceiling of the stairwell. this caused him to crumple to the floor at the foot of the stairs, banging his head off of a radiator again. sara started laughing because she didn't really see what had happened, but when andrew didn't move for a minute or so, she realized that something pretty bad had happened. so andrew is currently wandering around with aaron as a babysitter, making sure he doesn't die or go to sleep, which would also be very bad. we looked up what you're supposed to do for a concussion victim, and aside from immediately called 911, the various sources suggested that the victim shouldn't go to sleep for a long time afterwards, to make sure he would wake up again. one site said not to let him sleep for 24 hours, which is not possible, since all he wants to do is go to sleep (also a bad sign). another one said that he could go to sleep 6 hours after the concussion, but that he should be woken up every 2-3 hours and made to form coherent sentences. upon hearing this, everyone in the room was like, "nose it! not it." hopefully he'll be fine in the morning, because i'm fairly sure no one will be able to wake up every 2 hours to make him speak. all in all, assuming that andrew suffers no long-term effects from his concussion, it was a great night of mischief and mayhem.

so sorry that it's been a ridiculous amount of time since my last update, to those of you who actually read this (cough cough tim). let's see, what has happened since my last update? probably a lot, since that was on october 28th. oh, i know! halloween happened! i think halloween was a huge success this year. our costumes were beyond cool and very sexy as well. a group of about 5 of us dressed up as public safety officers (aka campus police for non-bucknellians) replete with badges, handcuffs, plastic guns, and citation pads. you can see pictures of our costumes on my webshots account, which is a link in my im profile. aaron and andrew dressed up as boondock saints and i drew the necessary tattoos on them with sharpie. they liked how badass they thought they looked with them on, and were like, i'm going to get these tattoos done for real! luckily, that idea petered out rapidly. two girls on the hall dressed up in pretty gross cotsumes; one was a corn shit and the other was a booger. they went "trick-or-shotting" door to door in the dorm for shots instead of candy. my friends and i weren't quite as bad as that...we actually went trick-or-treating for candy in the neighboring neighborhoods. we brought flasks with us to convince ourselves that we weren't being entirely childish. all in all, it was lots of fun.

this weekend, 311 is coming to play a concert, so we're going to that. i can't decide whether the concert will be really good or really bad--i've heard 311 does good shows, but their music isn't normal dancing music, so it might be weird. we shall see.

yesterday was incredibly hectic because we decided to rearrange our room so my bed didn't have to be lofted anymore. i was really excited about this, because i didn't want to have a lofted bed in the first place, but was stuck with it because we couldn't figure out any other way to rearrange our room and have everything still fit. we ended up having to put cinder blocks under the legs of our beds to raise them hihg enough to get our little bureaus underneath them. i know it sounds ghetto, but we were forced to use cinder blocks for two reasons: 1) to get the beds to hte right height, we needed to stack 4 bed risers on top of each other underneath each leg and wal-mart didn't sell enough of them. 2)buying that many bed risers would have cost over $100, while the cinder blocks cost $0.89 each. in summary: 362C is cheap and ghetto and fabulous. the room really does look a lot better now, as long as you can ignore the cinder blocks. they're relaly not that noticable, i promise. if yo're really lucky, i'll put pictures of the rearranged room on webshots, too.

there's a chinchilla in my room now. his name is charlie. emilie bought him a week ago, and he now lives in a nice cage under her bed. the other roommate doesn't like him that much, which is ridiculous since charlie is by far the cutest thing ever. he doesn't even smell or make noises, so i don't know what her problem with him is. everyone else loves him, including two of the RAs...ours and the one upstairs. no, we're not supposed to have pets like chinchillas in our rooms, but obviously it's not much of an issue if the two RAs with (technically) the most authority over us saw him, loved him, and are never going to do anything about him. aaron says he's going to get charlie high, but em and i refuse to let him near charlie unless he is supervised (aaron, not the chinchilla). aaron is high right now, as a matter of fact...i'll have to make sure to keep an eye on charlie so aaron doesn't come down to either give him a joint or eat him. either one would be equally likely/tragic. oh, did i mention what a reputable character aaron is? he's almost as much of an outstanding citizen as colin, who only smokes several times a day at all hours of the day and night. sara and i bought one of those elementary school book reading sticker charts for them yesterday. we put aaron, andrew, and colin's names down on it and listed several categories of their typical offenses: truancy, mischief, ridiculousness, and booting/throwing up. every time they do anything that falls into these categories, they get a sticker in that row. we also bought these ghetto attendance certificates for them...andrew earned one for skipping 7/11 classes last week. needless to say, his line of truancy stickers is the longest. they usually earn a couple stickers each for ridiculousness whenever they're high, because they are generally hilarious and retarded. for example, aaron and colin got really high and came downstairs to our room last weekend (parents' weekend). hadley's parents walk in, see colin sitting very still on a toddler's feather-covered chair and aaron laying on my lap clawing at the air and shake their heads. then, because colin is a very large black man and is exceeding hte toddler chair's weight limit by about 150 pounds, the chair breaks and colin falls down. being crazy high at this point, he continues sitting on the pile of mangled chair pieces, thinking that if he doesn't move, no one will see what he just did. at this point, we can no longer keep straight faces, and hadley shoves her parents out of the room as fast as possible. aahh, parents' weekend...good times, good times.

sooo, i'm headed home tomorrow! i'm excited. we're off on fall break until wednesday, so i'm going home tomorrow afternoon and coming back tuesday night. i haven't been home since school started almost 2 months ago, so i'm excited to have my own room again and see everybody. i don't think many people are going to be home, though, because their fall breaks are either nonexistant, don't coincide with mine, or are too short to warrant the long trek back home. we'll probably have to wait until thanksgiving to see each other again. with the exception of val, i haven't seen any of my friends at all since we left for school. i've met a lot of great people here, but it will be nice to get a break from them for a little while. it's hard not to eventually get annoyed with people when you're living with them 24/7. the gossip is flying here, and public safety is on a rampage, so it will also be good to give everything a chance to settle down a little bit. hopefully when we return, public saftey will have returned to some semblance of normalcy and will have stopped harassing students so much. my fingers are crossed. my legs are, too, for that matter.

i have a list of things that i want to bring home for fall break, but i think i'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to pack them up, as aside from this small break to update my livejournal, i've been working nonstop all day. i have a calc assignment due tomorrow, a test due tomorrow, and a bio midtern to study for. and last night was aaron's birthday, so we obviously threw him a big drunken party, and did nothing productive all night long. consequently, i've been super busy all day today. i'm not sure what time i'll end up getting ot bed tonight, but it probably will be none too early. one of the biggest plusses about going home for break will be the chance to finally catch up on sleep! i feel like i've been sleep deprived since august 19th, and have never caught up. i'll probably go home and end up sleeping for the entire four days straight. i may have to wake up occasionally to eat, though, as it would be a sin to go home and miss out on homecooked food.

ok, i really have to get back to the work, so that's all i've got time to say for now.

yesterday we were quite upset to receive a note from our janitor lady, karen, that the wall of cartoons outside 376 had to be removed. it remains to be discovered whether it was the presence of the cartoons or their content that drew karen's attention. probably both. never fear, though, the cartoons will continue. now they will be confined to an album for easy perusal. it's probably for the best anyeays, though, as fall break is fast approaching and i'm sure the room inspection people would be less than appreciative of the humor.

last night was an awesome time, as tara came up here bearing beautiful things--namely peach schnapps, rum, and watermelon smirnoff's. we attempted to pretend we needed chasers for the snirnoff's, but the honest truth is that it was so good they were unneccessary.

well, it's sunday now...i began writing this entry yesterday at like 8 pm. then i got sidetracked, we went out, and it was left unfinished. i think that's a first...if you have ever begun an entry one day and finished it the next, please leave a comment so i don't feel completely ridiculous.

i suppose i now have more things to write about, as we went to phi psi last night. it was very fun...they had a live band playing, and the music was relaly good...some of it was more jumping around music than actual dancing music, but it was a nice change from the usual stuff. it might have been the second best frat night here, second to friday night at lambda. they had a party going with really good music and dancing platforms and stuff. here's a really good question for you: dancing is pretty much the most ridiculous concept ever created by man, so why is it so much fun to do?? also comment if you have any thoughts on that. now i'm headed out to breakfast, because the ridiculous amount of pizza we ate at 3 am last night is not sufficient.

so, big news yesterday: val's coming to visit me this weekend!!! yay! that definitely made my week a lot better. not that it was bad before that, but you know. val coming to visit makes everything better. there's this late night thing on saturday night called "BU after dark," and apparently the committee that organized it was encouraging people to come to it drunk and have fun. interesting...we might have to try that out. more likely, we'll get drunk and decide that it's entirely too difficult to walk all the way down to the fieldhouse inebriated. whatever...it'll be fun either way. and tomorrow is sara's birthday, so it's going to be even crazier than usual in 376. good times. i would also like to note that the RA definitely knows what goes on in 376, but doesn't really care at all. awesome.

i have a lot of work to do before tuesday...write a lab report for bio, do our weekly graded calc problem set, and write a rough draft of a research paper on michael crichton. i'm not sure which will be the worst. i think it'll go something like this:
1. lab report
2. research paper
3. problem set
the lab report wouldn't be that bad, except it means that i have to figure out how to manipulate excel to do my bidding and read through this handbook of how to write biology lab reports to make sure my page margins aren't supposed to be 1.15" instead of 1.2," and other trivial details like that. i'm looking forward to writing the paper on michael crichton because i'm pretty much in love with him, but to do so i have to figure out how to find research material in the library, and that's a bit daunting. the problem sets aren't hard at all, they just take up time because they're so long, so i'm not really dreading that one.

i got iTunes a little bit ago, so that was pretty exciting. garrett, who lives with aaron upstairs, helped me set it up, which was very nice of him, as i would have had no idea how to do it myself. it's a very sweet program, and i've accumulated about 900 songs already. impressive. i need to go through them and weed out the ones i don't really like, though, because i don't even know what all i have. i think 900 songs is an impressive amount, but garrett has about 2800, so i really have relatively few in comparison.

i'm going to go now because i have the final for my "alcohol and bucknell" class at 4, and i need to memorize how high your BAC can be before you get kicked out of school and stuff like that. i believe if it's your second or third thime being caught, you get kicked out with a BAC of 0.240, which is actually kind of scary, because it's not hard to get a BAC of 0.240. many people have reached that level already, and not been that messed up. i would be, but there are lots of people with much higher tolerances than me, lol.

sorry i haven't updated in awhile...it just kind of slips the mind sometimes. nothing too out of hte ordinary has been happening...jus the usual drunken mischief and mayhem. the terrace on the roof of our hall has become a hot spot for hanging out once again, and hadley, sara, and i have been taking advantage of the guitar guys who play on the roof at night. two guys, aaron and andrew, sing and play guitar really well and we all talk and just hang out. it's really awesome, but it takes extreme self control to go inside or to the library to do work instead of staying out on the terrace listening to them. sara is particularly bad at the self control thing; last night she had a lab report to write, but stayed out on the terrace till midnight and didn't end up finishing the lab until 3 am.

tonight chi phi is having a registered party, and somehow i got invited, which probably isn't going to happen very often, so i think that's where i'll go tonight. they're a cool frat, and the chances of being busted by public safety at a registered party are much slimmer than at a regular one. i'll have to check around and see if anyone else i know is going. i don't know how late i'll stay out tonight, though, because i signed up to be a volunteer at bucknell's open house day for prospective students tomorrow morning. i don't have to be there until 10:45, so i'll probably be out just as late as usual, lol. three of the athletes on our hall are hosting recruits this saturday, too, so it's pretty much a prospective weekend...there are going ot be a lot of confused people running around and crowding up our cafeteria. booo. there was a water polo tournament here last weekend, so the caf was packed with water polo players, and it was super crowded. hopefully it's not as bad tomorrow, but i suspect it will be worse, lol.

that's all for now...give me an im sometime and let me know what's going on wherever you are!

my classes here at bucknell really relate to the real world. the professors put a great deal of effort into translating academic problems into real world situations. for example, in my biology class this morning, the affinity of an enzyme in relation to the amount of substrate present was described as corresponding to a singles bar. ensymes with high affinity, accoring to my bio prof, are like tall, dark, and handsome men with golden retriever puppies...there could be very few women in the bar, and the handsome guy will still likely find a date. the fun analogies did not end in bio, though...the calculus prof. came up with one of his own. we were discussing functions that did not conform to standard models and instead "behaved badly." he told us that these functions couldn't get along well with other functions and needed to be sent to time-out. i guess it was just a great day of classes today.

i think i agree with dallmus about livejournals not being so fun anymore. i mean, i guess it's more important to update them now, so that people can hear about what's going on when we're all spread apart. however, the stories that i usually fill up my entries with now involve people who no one from home knows, so they're not nearly as funny to other people. i'll continue to make an effort to write good entries...if you have any ideas of subject matter, i'd be more than happy to hear your suggestion.

well, i just finished my linguistics homework for tomorrow...what a weird class. tonight's homework was to translate sentences into linguistic language using the symbols linguists use to represent speech sounds. how gay. i was like, whaaat? i'm doing this why? yeah, it was a pretty big waste of time. yesterday we decided to have a mid-week dorm party (don't even START to accuse me of drinking on school nights; the only class i had today was my alcohol class at 4 pm), and this guy kerry (of earlier mention) mixed up some jungle juice. it was good stuff, and kerry made sure to warn everyone that it is stronger than it seems, so you should be careful how much you drink. his other piece of advice was not to drink any beer with it. everybody followed his advice except him, as he proceed to have a chugging competition with another guy, and then to drink like 4 beers. at first this was very entertaining, because kerry is usually a very reserved guy and was out on the roof doing handstands and generally being really funny. however, when we tried to put him to bed (he was pretty incapable of doing it himself), he felt like shit and couldn't lie down. hadley and i stayed up with him till he could go to bed, and he was sick all night and part of today, too. moral of the story: pay attention to what alcohol you're drinking. from this event, i also realized how unattractive drunk guys are. it's just too bad we had to learn these lessons at kerry's expense. poor guy.

that's all the news of importance i have right now...perhaps i'll have some stories after bucknell's home football opener this saturday. since two football guys live in our hall, we are going to go watch the game as a hall.

hmm, i don't know what to say. the weather has been beautiful here for the last week, but it is overcast right now, and appears as if it will start raining any second. how sad that we must revert to typical pennsylvania weather once again.
last night was the start of our first real weekend here, since the weekend we first arrived doesn't really count, as no one knew anyone else yet. we got some stuff from nikki's lacrosse captain, who overcharged us by a lot, but it was ok since we invited a bunch of people from other halls over and charged them $5 a head to drink it. I don't think we quite made a profit, since we bought good quality stuff, but we didn't have to spend much at all. excellent. we mixed up some sex on the beaches, which were very tasty. after pregaming on malcolm 3, we headed out to smith and larison dorms, which are on the other side of campus and right near downtown. however, apparently the people from smith and larison who were up in our hall were up there because they had already drunk their own stuff, and there was nothing left in those halls. so, upon reaching the downtown dorms, we proceeded to sit around in front of smith talking for awhile. then, we went to larison and met these two sober guys who wanted to have a poetry reading or something. so, we all crowded into one room and laughed at everyone's drunken asses trying to recite the poetry, which, by the way, wasn't good at all. then we came back to swartz and hung out on our terrace, aka the roof. although swartz is the second-oldest dorm for freshmen, and has the crappiest showers, it's the best dorm due to the people there and the terrace that is perfect for hanging out, doing work, reading, tanning, or talking at any time of the day or night. you can always find someone hanging out up there. some people stayed out on the terrace longer than others did, and eventually it was just me and this guy named mike left. so, as any two college kids would do upon finding themselves in such a situation, we made out, which was fun. strange, but fun nonetheless. hopefully there will be no weird repercussions for doing this. it happens.
well, yesterday we went to wal*mart to buy some things, including jello to make jello shots with. i think i'm going to go now, so we can prepare them for tonight. have a great night everyone!

wow, what a whirlwind the last few days have been! i'm sorry for not updating, and for not getting back to everyone who has left me a message...i literally haven't been in my room for more than changing clothes and sleeping ever since i got to bucknell. we've had orientation activities all day every day, and have been super busy. i'll tell you what's gone on so far:
*FRIDAY-i got here around 10 am, moved my stuff in, had lunch, met the rest of the hall, had a welcome reception dinner, a matriculation ceremony, and then playfair! playfair was ridiculous, in that the entire freshman class went out onto the football field and we played team games.
*SATURDAY-had to get up early for breakfast, then had a college of arts & sciences meeting, then met for my foundation seminar (freshman class), another meeting/lecture, lunch, color games! color games was the most insane thing we've done all this time. everyone put on old clothes and went to a practice field, where we all squirted "washable" (yeah, not so washable) paint onto everyone else, then played crazy games like slip n slide and sack races and stuff. it sounded pretty retarded, but it was actually pretty sweet. then there was a luau, which was really just a picnic on the quad in front of one of the halls, where you were apparently supposed to mingle with everyone and meet like 500 people you didn't know. however, we all preferred to just talk to the people we already knew and knew we liked, so that was sort of dumb. then there was some music and midnight pancakes made by the sophomores who are our orientation leaders.
*SUNDAY-we had brunch, then had to take this stupid survey that took a freaking hour to finish...definitely a waste. then we had a boring meeting with some lady who was like, "so, how's orientation going? good...umm, i don't have anything of value to say, so please say something." then a totally awesome speaker came...she was one of the best (if not the best) speakers i've ever heard. that night there was a foam dance party in one of the quads, where they blew up this inflatable bouncy pit, turned on the music, let everyone dance around in the pit, and sprayed foam over everyone's heads. it was so awesome, but the foam got ot be pretty suffocating when they sprayed it out in heavy waves. there was definitely some stuff going on underneath the foam, lol. naturally, this event also sounded ridiculous before we went to it, so we thought it would be a good idea to pregame in our dorm before heading out. it was a good idea. one guy in my hall brought a handle of vodka and a handle of rum with him from home, and was really generous and let everyone drink it. so, morla of the story: mike=awesome.
*MONDAY-met with my adviser, who is also the teacher of my foundation seminar (see above), and she was really nice. then waited in an hour-long line for enrollment, which was annoying because when i finally got to the front of the line, the lady asked me for my ID number, looked up my file, and was like, you're good! goodbye! i was like, "are you kidding me? i just stood in a line for an hour for THAT???" and she was like, "yes. just be glad there wasn't anything wrong with your schedule or else you'd have to go wait in THAT line!" and pointed at a mob of students in the middle of the room. so then i thanked her and got the h ell out of there. after that, we went downtown to lewisburg for "welcome to lewisburg" day. it was awesome, because all the businesses on market st. (main drag) had maybe 15 students' names on their windows, and if your name was on the sheet you got a prize from that store. my name was up in a jewelry store, and i got a pretty gold anklet. good deal, eh? after that we had a carnival and a pep rally, basically. then we came back to the dorm and drank, planning on heading out somewhere, but decided it was more fun to just stay on the hall. some of us went out onto the terrace, which is this sweet roof walk we have in our dorm. it is a flattened-out part of the roof, with a great view of stuff going on, and lots of people just hanging out. some people got busy that night, including one guy from my floor. our group was standing together about 7 or 8 feet from the wall, and he started making out with this girl from another wing right against the wall, apparently oblivious to our presence. well, he had had a good deal of captain morgan to drink, but i don't think she had. oh well. it happens. me, this really energetic girl named hadley, mike (aka mike=awesome), and a guy named kerry (tom welling look-alike) stayed out talking for a long time. kerry was like,
"i'm told that i give orgasmic massages. let me show you." naturally, i was slightly skeptical, but since i'll never turn down a massage (and who would??), i agreed. although he was exaggerating slightly, it was not by much...he was definitely really good at them. all in all, a good night.

that's the rundown of everything we've done...sorry it was so long, but i told you we'd been runnning around nonstop. a side note, however: there are a ridiculous amount of hot guys at bucknell. in all honesty, you cannot look anywhere without seeing more hot guys than ugly and average guys combined. it's so sweet. the girls are mostly pretty, too. we were all curious to see if anyone else had noticed this phenomenon, so we looked in this "guide to bucknell" book one girl in my hall had. under the student body section, it rated the attractiveness of the student body, and bucknell got an A. it was like, "it's like being in an abercrombie & fitch catalog all the time. there is a disproportionately large number of attractive people at bucknell." we then looked at all the other schools we could find stats for, and the next highest grade we found was a B, even when we looked at notoriously pretty-people campuses. mmmmm. don't be jealous of it, though...just come visit and enjoy it for yourself!

missing everyone back home! hope you are having some great last days of summer/first days of college!

well, the packing is done and the car is loaded up. at this time tomorrow, i'll be at bucknell! hooray...i can't wait. everyone's starting to leave for school anyways, so there isn't anything left to do here in mars. tonight amber and val are coming over for the pants party, which will double as our last party before we leave. that part's sad, but you know what they say: absence makes the heart grow fonder. after we've gone months without seeing each other daily, we'll be even better friends. this won't be the case with most of the people i know, as in their cases absence will make the mind forgetful, and we probably won't stay in touch that much. i'm not very sad about that. it's like weeding the garden or cleaning out your closet...once in awhile you have to get rid of the stuff you don't use any more.

tonight is also the cross country alumni run, which i am going to run in, and will probably be the only runner from last year to do so, except krazy karl, of course. i'm sure he'll be there. it's funny, because when you're on the cross country team and you have to run in this alumni run, you're really pissed off about it because it doesn't count for anything, and the coaches just use it as an excuse for a speed workout. however, once you no longer have to do speed workouts or and workouts in general, it becomes a fun thing to do. if i had the option of not running the race last year, i would definitely have stayed home, but now that i do, i'm going to run it by my own choice. very strange.

5:28 pm - aie karumba!
whew...i'm taking a brief breather from the whirlwind madness that is the packing up of one's life for college. i definitely underestimated the whole process, and overestimated the size of our car. what a bad combination. i believe i will be able to fit everything into the car, but that damn fridge will take up a lot of much-needed space. i think i'm going to have to pack some stuff inside of it. haha...maybe i'll jam a lot of clothes inside of it, so when my roommates open it up, they'll be like, uhhh.... my room currently looks like a bomb went off inside of it, as clothes and towels are strewn everywhere. i'm trying to get most of the packing done today and wednesday, because tomorrow i'll be shopping all day and on wednesday night julie is coming over to stay until saturday. this wouldnt be a factor at all except that i've been piling up all my stuff for school in her room. whoops. i leave bright and early on friday, so by getting the packing done now, i can save thursday for throwing in any last things that i missed, saying goodbye to everyone, throwing the pants party, and recuperating from the ordeal. it also doesn't help that within the course of a week, i will have decorated 5 pairs of jeans for friends. i think it's safe to say that i've been one busy little beaver.

congratulations to the second and third winners of the the quote contest, caitlin with troy and val with pirates of the caribbean. now those two are tied with amy for first place...looks like a close race. check for the latest quote.

doesn't it irritate you when you have things that you have to do, but really don't want to do? it's even worse when A) you can no longer procrastinate on them because they have to be done by tomorrow, and B) they are charitable things, so you feel shitty for not wanting to do them. yes, i despise things of that nature. i also hate having my days scheduled out for me way in advance. well, it seems like there are many things i despise, so why not make a list?

  1. things that smell dusty
  2. clutter and knick knacks
  3. fermented orange juice, aka what's in our fridge
  4. people who think they're the shit
  5. my fish
  6. babysitting/children in general
  7. whores
  8. old lady perfume...it seriously makes me want to retch
  9. good friends gone bad
  10. stale pretzels

well, that's quite a lot of negativity...i think it needs to be countered with some optimism. here's a list of stuff i really like:

  1. the feeling of not having any obligations to fulfill
  2. a soft, warm bed
  3. deodorant that works well and smells wonderful, too
  4. fresh air, as long as you're not driving past a dairy farm
  5. chocolate cake
  6. freedom
  7. the nail polish amy gave me for my birthday because it was on her toenails and i said i really liked the color
  8. amy
  9. good perfume...not too strong and no vanilla or coconut
  10. the decor of my room...it's transforming into a somewhat mediterranean theme, which is most excellent

2:57 pm - happy birthday ame!
good job to everyone who answered the movie quote question...the correct answer, which everyone got, was 10 things i hate about you. congrats to amy, who, with her lighting-fast response time, had the correct answer first. i've changed the quote now, so you can guess at this new one.

ok, here's the deal: i'm going to have a contest. the link to this journal that is in my aim profile is going to be a quote from a movie, and i'll change it periodically. what you have to do is read the quote, figure out what movie it's from, and leave the answer as a comment to the most recent livejournal post. whoever guesses the right answer first gets a point, and at the end of 2 weeks, i will tally up the points and whoever has the most wins the grand prize. i havent' figured out what that prize will be yet, but you can bet it'll be a good one. so look, comment, and win fun stuff.

phew, i'm tired. i just got back from a bike ride with lance armstrong, also known as my father. silly me, i thought he just wanted to go on a leisurely bike ride for some father-daughter bonding and whatnot. no sirree. apparently his true intention was to burn every ounce of fat off of his body. now i know what he means when he asks so innocently if i would like to take a bike ride. i think next time my answer will be, "oh, sorry dad, i can't. i'm busy...darn it, i really wanted to go ride like 30 miles in one hour's time."

today is just going to be an activity-filled day, as amy and i are headed out to play tennis now, and i have to go to my mother's house for my birthday party after that (yes, my birthday was on july 16th, not august 6th). i would be dreading having to go over there, regardless of the occasion, but i am getting a fridge for my dorm room, so that's super exciting. i'm not supposed to know that, though, so shhhh.

today was uneventful, as are most summer days in my life. i read harry potter for a lot of the time, because i have to finish the new book quickly or else teri will start salivating all over me, and not just all over the book. on saturday i went to brad's for his mandatory my-parents-are-away alcoholic party, and it was a fun time, as one would suppose it would be. brad and i kicked some ass at pong against amy and dallmus (sorry ame!) and i took some funny pictures. when i got the film developed yesterday, there were a couple on the roll i don't remember taking, so either i had more to drink than i thought or else someone filched my camera for a bit, both of which are entirely possible. i was a little upset with dallmus, however, because he made me a drink that didn't sit too well with me...i guess that's my fault for letting dallmus mix anything for me. last time i ever do THAT, lol.

on a much less entertaining note, i went school shopping yesterday for what certainly must be the 67th time this summer. i think i'll just have to make one last run right before i leave, and i'll have everything i need (hopefully). whatever i am missing can certainly be bought at school. tomorrow, val is taking me to butler so we can go to goodwill/the salvation army. i think she's gotten tired of listening to me whine about how i want to go there, but never get around to it. sooooo, i'll leave you anxiously awaiting my next update, in which i am sure i'll tell you of the many good finds i got ;)
